Get to Know: Kris of KKP Bakery
Local Family Founded Bakery
Let us introduce you to Kris Kuskowski , Founder of KKP Bakery
It is with great pleasure that we introduce Kris to our community. We are thrilled to welcome KKP Bakery to The Shoppes at Beulah and are thankful for Kris’ vision and investment into Grove City. Kris is a lifelong resident of Central Ohio. Having known each other since attending grade school, Kris and his wife – Erin, a nurse at Nationwide Children’s Hospital – have been married for 10 years. They are the proud parents of three children (the namesakes for KKP!) – Kassidy (6), Kallie (4) and Patrick (2).
As a bakery veteran, Kris has been in the business for 23 years and counting. As it has been widely publicized, Kris spent his entire baking career at the iconic Resch’s Bakery (family owned and in existence for over 100 years). Brought to Resch’s by a high school friend, Kris’ stint at Resch’s started while he was a student at Saint Charles Preparatory School. His initial responsibilities included cleaning up after the bakers and delivering wedding cakes on Saturdays. Kris continued to work at Resch’s while attending The Ohio State University. Upon graduation, Kris joined the team as a full time baker, learning from their experienced and talented roster of bakers.
Kris thoroughly enjoyed his time working at Resch’s and is forever grateful for the experience of learning the bakery business from the best in the industry. But, you may also say he has been in the business his entire life! As a child, Kris’ parents would allow him to make brownies and cakes with little or no supervision. Kris really enjoys the fact that people can appreciate things you make with your hands and the effort that you put into it. This is something he does not take lightly and is an important aspect customers can expect from KKP.
Customers and neighbors can also expect a family atmosphere at KKP Bakery. While KKP stands for Kassidy, Kallie and Patrick, he wants everyone to feel like they are apart of his family. This starts with his dedicated team of employees. Kris’ motto is it is far easier to communicate in the work place if you are able to get along with others! Kris hopes to extend the family atmosphere to community involvement, particularly helping to continue to grow the Beulah Park community – an area that is particularly special to his family since they have been around the redevelopment since day one. Kris finds it a great privilege to join the other locally owned small businesses and has a “helping each other out” mentality.
As for the look of KKP, customers will notice the integration of Beulah green throughout the space. Working with locally owned Damewood Designs, they went for an industrial style look inside the bakery but also wanted to keep it very elegant. The gorgeous decorative tile and chandelier fixtures certainly brought a touch of elegance to the well designed space!
The initial menu will revolve around donuts, muffins, pretzels, bagels, cupcakes and other pastry items. There are plans to expand into custom cakes and other offerings as Kris continues to build KKP Bakery from scratch. We look forward to KKP Bakery being another proud Grove City destination point for Central Ohio!
- Favorite part of Grove City: Beulah Park for obvious reasons.
- Favorite item to bake: Butterscotch pecan rolls
- Favorite baked good to enjoy: Cinnamon donut with cream cheese icing on top or anything blueberry related
- Best thing about opening your first location at Beulah Park: Having the support of all the residents and the many people in the surrounding neighborhoods.
- Your hope: That the community in Beulah Park will get to experience a place where they will be able to go for many years. I want it to be a mainstay in this area and hope it will continue to be a family owned business should my children have a desire to follow in my footsteps.
KKP Bakery is located at 3621G Southwest Blvd. Hours of operation are Tuesday – Saturday, 7am – 4pm.
